I'm now using it under VMWare Fusion 4. I have a different user name on the Mac that in the VM. The Mac is a Macbook Air, current model, running Lion I get an authority error when I try. I also have a Virtual Box VM that is similar, uses the same user profile in Windows, and it has no trouble seeing the shared folders. I don't have Fusion installed on my Mac yet so can't comment with any authority. But have you uninstalled VMware tools for the Windows version and then reinstalled using those supplied with Fusion?
Hope that all makes sense. Within VMWare tools, is there a Shared Folder tab, does that show as enabled and where does it show the shared folders being on the Mac? I'll pick up a copy of Fusion later on tonight and setup a Win7 VM later to see if I can find anything else to check.
Been meaning to check out bootcamp and Fusion as I use VMware a lot for my work, so this will be as good as time as any. The shared folder tab is enabled. Share folders show on the Windows 7 desktop, but it then tells me I cannot access the shared folders. I tried creating a user profile with the same name and password as the Mac, but it makes no difference. When I signed in with that profile, it told me it had installed tools to access shared folders and restart. It made no difference when I restarted- same error message.
By the way- appreciate the help. That's why I've been coming here since the site was new although I didn't register for several years. Does the Windows VM vmware fusion centos 7 shared folders free download access to the internet?
If it vmware fusion centos 7 shared folders free download, try reseting the Windows firewall to defaults and then reboot the VM. Fingers crossed when you start the VM back up it will pick up your Folders. I'll reset the firewall and see what happens. Turned the firewall off completely. No difference. Reset the file sharing. Twice, it has said that VMWare has changed settings so I can share files and that I needed to reboot.
I get an error message when I click on the shared folders icon on the desktop that says Windows can't access the shared folders because I don't have access rights. Just to make certain i understand this right, you want to access folder stored on the Mac from within Windows?
Which folders is it you have shared? Just been doing some reading from the VMware forums and had a thought. You could try shutting the VM down and then holding Alt and right click 2nd click on the VM and select to open the config file in editor. You will then get a text file of the settings used to create the VM, look through it for the shared folders and check the paths.
Then close VMWare and start it back up you need to do this to reload the config file. I can't think of anything else vmware fusion centos 7 shared folders free download check at this point other than removing the shared folder going back into the VM, shutting down and then re-adding.
It seems to be a permissions thing, but I'm not familiar enough with OSX and Fusion to pin point it exactly. Unless someone else on this forum can give you any more things to check it might be worth checking on the VMWare forums.
I'm getting a proxy error on that. They must have server issues. I've tried it from two different access points, work and home. Turned out that I had to do some registry edits.
Somewhere along the way, certain keys were set to look for the host machine for the documents folder, even though it wouldn't have been connected. Yanked those out, and it was good to go!
